Morning breath can be most disturbing to your mate, but it doesn’t have to ruin your marriage. You see… there are many things for couples to squabble about, but something as minute as morning breath should not ruin a marriage. It may however be one of those straws that break the camels back, especially if you and your spouse have been in combat for the last few weeks or months.

Bad breath can stem from wide a variety of internal and external factors, however neglecting the symptoms won’t solve anything. It’s your duty to get to the root of the problem, before it stems into something more serious like gingivitis. Don’t disrupt your marriage or put a strain on your relationship when there are known cures to the problem. Wake up fresh with a simple cleaning in the morning, or even a new evening hygiene routine, to make the most of your personal relationships.

Some of the causes of morning breath are probably pretty obvious, but what’s more interesting is to learn why certain actions create a more undesirable breath in the morning. For instance, during the day when the mouth is constantly in action and saliva is readily produced; the body is able to manage and neutralize the odorus bacteria that causes bad breath through natural defenses. However – without the saliva – the dry conditions provide the perfect environment for bacteria to grow, which is what happens while you’re a sleep.

During the night the mouth becomes excessively dry creating the perfect condition for morning breath. In most cases, the tongue moves back towards the tonsils and blocks the flow of saliva. This creates a dry area for bacteria to grow. From here, the dead cells linger on the tongue and the inside of the cheeks causing a very unpleasant odor in the morning.

Furthermore, certain things you do during the day and before going to bed contribute to morning breath. For example, don’t eat harsh foods, like garlic and onions, before bedtime. This will certainly cause a problem. Also, alcohol consumption will dehydrate the mouth, and aid the bacteria by intensifing the dry conditions. And lastly, be sure to brush and floss before going to sleep, then follow up the process with a natural (alcohol free) anti-bacterial oral rinse. These simple steps will help you fight the odorus bacteria.

Remember, it’s your job to control bad breath, and prevent it from affecting the people you love. Your spouse may be nagging, but he or she shouldn’t have to suffer nor be a victim of your neglect. Take control of the problem, before it leads to something more serious… like divorce.
