[ad_1]

Why do I have bad breath? That is a question all of us need to ask ourselves on a regular basis because we may have it and not even know it

There is an awful sounding word for bad breath known as halitosis. If you are like me you don’t want to be identified with that word. Actually halitosis may be originating simply from the foods you eat.

Whether it is what you eat or a serious dental problem that is causing halitosis I know you want to get rid of it. It really gets down to this. You don’t want the people you hang around with to avoid you because they don’t have the guts to tell you about the bad odor coming from your mouth.

So how do you get rid of this problem

The best thing to do is to start bad breath treatments on your own. A simple first step is watching the foods you eat that can cause this dilemma. Some of these would be:

  • Citrus juices believe it or not can be one of the culprits. If you don’t drink in moderation the acid found in the fruits can be fuel for bacteria forming in your mouth.
  • Garlic and onions are at the top of the list. While they do wonders for the taste of the food we eat and are healthy they are a big cause of bad breath.
  • If you are a lover of dairy products be aware because they can cause bacteria on your tongue. Of course two favorite’s alcohol and coffee are on the list. It also goes without saying if you are a smoker this can be a big factor.

There are a few simple ways to combat this ongoing predicament.

You’ll be surprised to discover that eating yogurt with probiotics will go a long ways in alleviating this difficulty in your life. Also by just simply drinking water on a regular basis will help also.

Some habits that hopefully you are doing on a daily basis are brushing, flossing and rinsing at least two or three times a day. Remember when you brush make sure you brush your tongue also.

What if these simple daily habits don’t stop my awful breath?

Well it is probably time to visit your dentist. There may be some minor or ever more serious dental issues at play.

Plaque on your teeth especially if it has turned into gum disease may be a major source of your problem. Cavities can also play a big factor in bad breath.

What if I can’t afford to go to the dentist?
